South Asia has an
abundance of languages; each one a linguistic marvel in its own with the
one-of-a-kind culture of its people reflecting in it. The Himalayan region is
no exception. With languages that developed uniquely due to difficult terrains,
equally difficult weather conditions or maybe contact with tourists through the
ages, the Himalayan languages have their own beautiful stories to tell. The
Himalayan Languages Symposium is the platform to share these stories because
HLS is a multidisciplinary conference that covers a broad range of topics of
the Himalayan languages.
This year, the
platform is at Lucknow. The 24th Himalayan Languages Symposium (HLS24) will be
held at University of Lucknow, hosted by the Department of Linguistics. In
accordance with what is mentioned in the official website of Himalayan
Languages Symposium (http://www.himalayansymposium.org/), we are now accepting
abstracts of research work conducted in any language of the greater Himalayan
region, e.g. Burushaski, Kusunda, Tibeto-Burman, Indo-Iranian, Austroasiatic,
Kradai, Andamanese, Nihali, Dravidian etc. Contributions are also invited from
related disciplines such as history, anthropology, archaeology and prehistory
focusing on the greater Himalayan region.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be
original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or
conference.
Abstracts of full papers in the topics mentioned in this Call for Papers and
related to the Himalayan linguistic area are invited.

HLS24 will be held at
the beautiful, heritage campus of Uttar Pradesh's pioneer university, the
University of Lucknow. Lucknow has several things to offer, including
scrumptuous cuisine and magnificent handiwork by local artisans. The company of
scholars in the field combined with the pleasant June weather is sure to make
your Lucknow stay a memorable one!
